"Anykščių Vynas" was founded in 1926 as a family-run local winery in the rural town of Anykščiai in northeastern Lithuania.
As a result of focusing on producing wine using fruits in the harsh region where grapes cannot grow, the unique brands became widely loved by the Lithuanian people and grew to become the most famous fruit wine winery in the Baltic countries.
Lithuania is located in a cold zone at 55 degrees north latitude, where winter temperatures often drop to -20 degrees. Even at the northernmost tip of Japan, the northern latitude is about 45 degrees, which shows how cold Lithuania is.
Naturally, it is difficult to grow grapes in Lithuania, so fruit wine has been produced using fruits such as berries that grow even in cold regions.
``Anykščių Vynas'', located in the rural town of Anykščiai region in northeastern Lithuania, also focuses on producing fruit wine using fruits that can grow in cold regions, such as berries, because the region is extremely cold.
As a result, the unique brands became widely loved by the Lithuanian people and eventually grew to become the most famous fruit wine winery in the Baltic countries.
Since its founding in 1926, the winery has continued to be loved despite many difficulties, including the rule of the former Soviet Union and the enactment of prohibition, and in 2005, the winery changed its brand name to "Voruta".
"Voruta" is the name of a royal castle that is said to have existed in the Anykščiai region in the 13th century. At that time, Lithuania was the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the largest country in Europe, and it was the name of the castle of King Mindaugas at that time.
The name Voruta has entered a new chapter in history as the name of a wine brand that inherits Lithuanian tradition and pride over time.
Fruit wines with a variety of flavors, from sweet to dry, made using rare fruits and vegetables.
