The legend of the giant who later created a world heritage site

Long ago, on the Baltic coast of western Lithuania, lived a beautiful female giant, Neringa. Neringa was courted and proposed to by a dragon, but when she refused, the dragon began attacking the Baltic fishermen. In order to protect the local fishermen, he brought in sand and reclaimed it to create a sandbar to keep the dragons away from the mainland. This is said to be the beginning of the Curonian Sandbar, which is currently 98km long and is designated as a World Heritage Site.

There is also a theory that the dragon was buried in sand, and the town of Neringa, which has a total length of 50km, is also the "longest" town in Lithuania.
