Origin of alcohol "Mead"

world's oldest liquor

"A beehive that had been ravaged by a bear was filled with rainwater and fermented into sake, which was drank by a passing hunter." This episode from about 9,000 years ago is said to be the origin of sake. Many people have been fascinated and drunk from the kings and queens of the world to the gods of mythology.

Honeymoon etymology

In medieval Europe, mead was believed to be blessed with children, and it was customary for newlyweds to drink honey on the night of the full moon to encourage child-bearing. This is the etymology of "honeymoon" and there is also a history that it was used as a wedding gift as an auspicious liquor.

Lithuania is said to have more than 4,000 lakes and has abundant water sources with natural mineral water. The Nemunas River (English name: Neman River) with a total length of 900 km, which crosses the country and flows to the Baltic Sea, is also famous.

EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)

A system that indicates that the quality and evaluation of a product originates from its place of origin and protects it as one of the intellectual property rights within the EU.

In 2013, "Stakrishkes" received this Protected Geographical Indication certification, which is given to products with quality and characteristics that show the characteristics of the place of origin and geographical environment.

About British Royal Patents

Queen Elizabeth I of England in the 16th century was an aficionado of a type of mead called "mesegrin" using herbs and spices, and even created her own original recipe. The effect of herbs is also effective for health, and it is a liquor that became the etymology of "medicine" (medicine).

Similarly, "Stakrishkes", which has a unique manufacturing method using herbs, was granted a patent by Queen Elizabeth II in 1972 and became a "British Royal Patent Brand" with a background that allowed importation to the United Kingdom.
